Monthly tracking of commercial real estate hiring demand — CRE-related job postings across 49 leading brokerages, investment managers, lenders, owner-operators, and REITs. Original AB CRE Advisors research, updated monthly.
A monthly read on commercial real estate hiring demand, compiled from the public career portals of 49 leading CRE firms across brokerage, investment management, CRE finance, owner-operators, and REITs. June 2026 captured 203 CRE-related openings, down 11 from May's 214 as the number of firms with active postings narrowed to 25 (from 28). Hiring remains concentrated in brokerage and capital markets, investment and acquisitions, and CRE finance and debt — the front-office and lending functions that move first when firms position for the next phase of the cycle.
Front-office roles still dominate demand. Brokerage and capital markets lead at roughly a third of openings (32%), followed by investment and acquisitions (27%) and CRE finance and debt (19%) — the latter the only major function to grow both count and share month-over-month. Asset management pulled back the most sharply, down 10 postings from May. Together, these functions account for nearly all CRE hiring this month — consistent with firms staffing for deal flow, debt originations, and active portfolio management rather than back-office expansion.
Why we track this
Hiring is a forward-looking signal. When investment managers and brokerages staff up front-office acquisitions and capital markets teams, it often precedes renewed transaction activity. This tracker is built entirely from public company career portals, giving an independent read on where institutional CRE capital is preparing to deploy — without relying on any third-party licensed dataset.
Postings are compiled from the public career portals of 49 leading commercial real estate firms spanning brokerage, investment management, CRE finance and debt, owner-operators, and REITs. Each opening is screened for CRE relevance and classified into one of five core functions: brokerage and capital markets, investment and acquisitions, asset management, CRE finance and debt, and valuation and research.
This June 2026 edition covers 203 CRE-related openings across the 25 firms with active postings, down from 214 postings across 28 firms in May. Company-level counts reflect roles in the five tracked functions and may understate total headcount needs at firms hiring heavily outside those functions. This is the second monthly edition, so month-over-month comparisons are now available and will continue to build as more months are collected. Not investment advice.
